KNOW YOUR FIGURE, FLATTER YOUR FIGURE

Little definition between bust, waist and hip measurements.

Fitted sheaths and classic shifts work well with your shape, while an Empire waist or simple A-line skirt help to create some curves. One-shoulder styles ensure a dramatic silhouette. Puff or Cap sleeve, full skirts, ruching at the hips, and belts at the waist also help give the appearance  of a curvier figure.

Fuller at the hips and rear, and smaller on top.

Dresses with fitted open-neck or strapless tops enhance your upper body and draw the eye up, while full or A-line skirts help hide wider hips. An Empire waist marks the smallest point of your figure, distracting from everything else.

Curvaceous, with full bust, defined waist and full hips.

Wraps, knit dresses and classic sheaths with fitted waists enhance your classically feminine form. Look for adjustable-waist styles for the best fit.

Narrowest point is above the natural waist, at the ribs.

Empire waists draw the eye up, taking attention away from the middle and allowing a looser fit. Neck details also bring the focus up, while full skirts and A-line shifts create an hourglass illusion.

Bust measurement is fuller than hips and rear.

Classic V-neck wraps and halter styles draw the eye downward for a slimming effect. A-line styles, full skirts and details at the hem help balance out the bottom half. Keep top embellishments to a minimum.

FLATTERING A FULL BUST

Your bust size is fuller than your hips and rear. Look for wrap styles, classic V-necks and halters that will draw eyes downward and create a slimming effect. Keep top embellishments to a minimum. To help balance out your bottom half, choose full skirts and A-line styles.

MINIMIZING HIPS

You have a thin waist, narrow ribs and shoulders, and full, womanly hips. The waistline should be accentuated. Look for dresses with wide collars and details around the bust to balance your lower body. A-line and flared skirts, empire and fitted waists, and belts worn at waistline are best for you.

ACCENTUATING CURVES

You have broad shoulders and/or a voluptuous chest, a smaller waist and gorgeous full hips. Look for dresses that accentuate your curves and have a fitted waist. Fitted clothing, strait skirts and belted waists are best for you.

MINIMIZING WAIST/TORSO

You have thinner legs and arms, accompanied by fullness through the ribs and stomach. Look for dresses that accentuates your legs and arms. Loose-fitting waists, empire waists, short sleeves, full skirts, and knee-length skirts are best for you.

LENGTHENING A PETITE FIGURE

You are smaller than the average woman. Look for clothing that lengthens your silhouette. Dresses with a hemline just above the knee are elongating. Vertical stripes, solid colors, fitted clothing and empire waists are best for you.

FLATTERING A TALL FIGURE

You are taller than the average woman. Look for dresses with belts or ties at the waist to break up the silhouette. Your height is complimented with patterns and feminine details such as ruffles and sashes.
