SWIMWEAR CARE & CLEANING

MANY OF YOUR FIERCE SIMPLICITY SWIMSUITS ARE HAND CRAFTED AND DELICATE. STORING AND CLEANING YOUR SWIMWEAR PROPERLY WILL ENSURE LONGEVITY. SPECIAL ATTENTION IS NEEDED TO PROTECT ONE’S SWIMSUIT IN ORDER TO KEEP IT LOOKING ITS BEST. THE MOST ESSENTIAL STEPS ARE:

  • RINSING IT IN COLD WATER DIRECTLY AFTER USE
  • WASHING LATER THAT DAY OR EVENING
  • ALLOWING IT TO AIR DRY FLAT.

A SWIMSUIT SHOULD NEVER BE DRY CLEANED, BLEACHED, IRONED, OR PLACED IN AN ELECTRIC DRYER. IN ADDITION, MOST EXPERTS CAUTION AGAINST USING A WASHING MACHINE. IN SOME CASES, HOWEVER, A WASHING MACHINE MAY BE DESIRABLE AND ACCEPTABLE, IN WHICH CASE, THE SUIT SHOULD BE WASHED IN A MESH BAG ON THE GENTLE CYCLE.

STEER CLEAR OF ROUGH SURFACES.

SITTING AND/OR RUBBING AGAINST TEXTURED POOL DECKS AND ANY ROUGH EDGES CAN RUIN THE SMOOTH AND LUXURIOUS TEXTURE OF YOUR SWIMWEAR.

AVOID GETTING EXCESS LOTIONS AND OILS ON YOUR SWIMWEAR.

SUNSCREEN, TANNING OILS, AND COSMETICS CAN BE HARMFUL TO SWIMSUITS. MAKE SURE TO RINSE AND WASH YOUR SWIMWEAR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE IF YOU DO.

RINSE YOUR SWIMWEAR IN COLD WATER AFTER EACH WEAR.

BY RINSING YOUR SWIMSUITS IN COLD WATER, YOU WILL HELP REMOVE THE EXCESS SALT AND CHLORINE. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT STEP TO TAKE BEFORE WASHING.

AVOID WASHING SWIMWEAR IN ELECTRIC WASHING MACHINES.

ALTHOUGH YOUR WASHING MACHINE MAY BE SET TO CYCLE GENTLY, IT COULD STILL BE WAY TOO ROUGH. WASHING MACHINES CAN RUIN THE SHAPE, FABRIC, AND PADDING, AS WELL AS ANY DELICATE EMBELLISHMENTS, STONES, OR BEADING. THEREFORE WASH YOUR SWIMWEAR BY HAND IN COLD WATER; WARM WATER IS ACCEPTABLE TOO. ALWAYS USE A MILD SOAP THAT IS MEANT FOR DELICATE FABRICS.

GENTLY SQUEEZE THE WATER OUT OF YOUR SWIMWEAR AFTER WASHING.

BE GENTLE AND DO NOT WRING OR TWIST YOUR SWIMSUIT ROUGHLY, AS THIS COULD RUIN ITS SHAPE.

DO NOT DRY YOUR SWIMWEAR IN AN ELECTRIC DRYER.

SIMILAR TO ELECTRIC WASHING MACHINES, ELECTRIC DRYERS CAN BE TOO ROUGH FOR THE FRAGILE MATERIAL OF SWIMWEAR. IN A SHADED AND WELL-VENTILATED AREA, LAY YOUR SWIMSUIT FLAT OUT TO DRY. BY LAYING IT FLAT, YOU WILL DIMINISH THE APPEARANCE OF WRINKLES AND CREASES.

REMOVING SUNSCREEN STAINS FROM A SWIMSUIT

THE BEST ANTI-STAIN METHOD IS TO PREVENT STAINS IN THE FIRST PLACE, BY LETTING SUNSCREEN ABSORB BEFORE PUTTING ON THE BATHING SUIT. IF SUNSCREEN OIL STAINS OCCUR, BAKING SODA OR VINEGAR ARE GENTLE CLEANERS THAT MAY HELP REMOVE THEM.

SPRINKLE A GENEROUS AMOUNT OF BAKING SODA DIRECTLY ONTO THE STAIN, AND ALLOW IT TO SIT FOR ONE TO TWO HOURS BEFORE WASHING GENTLY AS DIRECTED ABOVE.

IF USING VINEGAR, DILUTE ONE PART WHITE VINEGAR IN THREE PARTS WARM WATER, AND SOAK THE STAIN. WHITE VINEGAR CAN ALSO BE APPLIED DIRECTLY TO THE STAIN. AFTER SOAKING, WASH ACCORDING TO THE ABOVE DIRECTIONS.
